Step-by-Step Guide for Microsoft www.Office.com/Setup & Installation

Step 1: Purchase Microsoft Office

You can purchase Microsoft Office, online as well as offline. To buy it online, you need to visit Microsoft official website. You can also buy Microsoft Office offline from a retail store. Once purchased, it needs to be downloaded, installed and activated on a device.

Office 365 is the latest version of Microsoft office available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android users.

Step 2: Find Microsoft Office Product Key

For initiation, you require an item key. Boxed Version of Microsoft Office come with a product key. You might also receive a product key in email, if you bought Office 365 from an online store.

It is advisable to  keep Microsoft Office Product Key secure with you for future use.

Step 3: Reveal your Product Key

Carefully scratch off the silver foil coating at the back of your Microsoft Office Product Key Card to reveal your 25 digit Product Key.

Please note in case of Online purchase, you don’t need to perform this step.

Step 4: Log in with your Microsoft Account

Go to www.office.com/setup and log in with your Microsoft Account. Submit your Microsoft account information and sign in. You can create a new account, if you don’t have one.

You may already have a Microsoft account, if you have an account with Xbox, Msn.com, Hotmail.com, Outlook.com, Live.com.

Step 5: Enter your Product Key

Enter your Office product key, without hyphens. Microsoft Office Product Key is a unique combination of 25 alpha-numeric characters and is printed on the back side of your www.office.com/setup card. Sample Product Key format is XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

Step 6: Install Microsoft Office

Once you have successfully logged in with your Microsoft account and have entered your product key, click on install to Setup and Install Microsoft office on your PC or Mac.

By default, this installs the 32-bit version of Office on your PC using the language you selected when you redeemed the product. But If you want to install the 64-bit version, change your language.

Step 7: Download Micorosoft Office

Once you click on Install, a pop up will appear. Click on ‘run’ on Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge. For Chrome or Firefox, save the file. As the file gets downloaded you need to open it manually and run the installation. 

Click Yes, when you see this message “Do you want to allow this application to make changes to your device”.

Step 8: Finish Installation

You will be informed when the installation is done like, “You’re all set! Office is installed now” and then the animated video will show you how to find office applications on your computer. Follow the instructions in the window, for example Click Start > All Apps to see where your apps are, and select Close.

Step 9: Activate Office

Double Click on any of the Microsoft Office application  like Word, Excel. You will see an Microsoft Office Activation Wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate office.

In many cases, Office 365 and Office 2016 activate automatically. If you’re not prompted to activate, you can start using Office right away. If Office needs to be activated, you’ll see Microsoft Office Activation Wizard.

Error Messages when Installing Microsoft Office

Error code 0-1018 when installing Office Or "Another installation is in progress"

This error can occur if an Office install, update or uninstall was running before you tried to install Office.

Check for an Office icon in the Windows system tray and click it to check the install progress. If an install is already running, wait until it’s done before you start your Office install.
